Ilminster BC announced as Bowls England Club Of The Year Runner Up 2017

Ilminster Bowling Club has been announced as the runner up in the Bowls England Club Of The Year 2017.

This is the first year Ilminster entered this national competition. Ilminster were runners up to Lyndhurst BC from Durham .

As runners-up, Ilminster BC will receive:
• £150 cash
• Two sets of Drakes Pride Bowls
• The D’Arcy Drayton Cup (to be kept for one year)
• Two Free Tickets to the Bowls England Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation
• Bowls England Pennant
• Framed Certificate
• A match against a visiting Friends of English Bowling Team

Ilminster Bowlers Past and Present Make Commonweath Games Team

 

 

 

Ilminster bowlers Robert Paxton and former member Louis Ridout have been selected for England’s commonwealth games team in Australia in April.

 

 

 

Louis who spent many years playing at Ilminster before his move to Devon and watched him develop into an top international bowler .

 

 

 

Rob who has been part of Ilminster for three years playing outdoor and indoor bowls in this time , will be looking to add a commonwealth gold to his world championship gold he won back in summer.

 

 

 

Rob and Louis will be competing against teams from around the world to try and win a coverted gold medal.

 

 

 

We wish them both huge congratulations from all the members at Ilminster Bowling Club and am sure they will make there country proud .

 

 

 

Ilminster today put in an outstanding display of team spirit to beat Moonfleet 2000 in the Egham Trophy by 7 shots 82-75

 

With both away rinks well down at 10 ends (18-1 & 17-4 ) they battled back to lose (21-18 and 26-16 ) .

 

Ilminster rinks at home put in a excellent performance to win (22-15 and 26-13 )

 

Ilminster now face  Dorchester on Saturday 11th Nov 

 

Ilminster are through to the next round of the Denny Cup after a walkover against Taunton . They now play Moonfleet 2000 on 4th Nov

 

 

 

 Ilminster completed a tough victory over Dorchester in the Top Club with an 77-73 win . Ilminster now face Moonfleet 2000 in next round

 

 

 

Ilminster Results :

 

Ilminster started the season with a 7 shot win over Bridport in the Egham on Sunday . Ilminster now face Moonfleet 2000 from Weymouth in the next round.

 

Ilminster over 60's double rink teams started there campaign on Tuesday .

Ilminster A defeated Bridgwater by 21 shots and now face St Andrews BC from WSM in the next round after they defeated Ilminster B by 2 shots in a very close game .

 

This Saturday the first round of the Denny Cup takes place against Taunton . And on Sunday ilminster take on Dorcester in the Top Club .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ilminster held a grand opening of the newly refurbished bar and lounge area. The Club was lucky enough to have England and Commonwealth players Rob Paxton and Louis Ridout with us for the grand opening. The new facilities will greatly improve Club facilities for members, and will promote the Club in the local community.

Ilminster bowlers Ian Lightfoot , Bev Brister , Matt Hamilton and Neil Rowe competed in the National Championship at Leamington Spa in the national fours . Unfortunately they lost their first game to Herefordshire B, but this was a great effort as they were one of just two teams representing Somerset.
